Change for Paramount Global multiplex from 28.2°E

The British platform operator Sky UK has disabled the Paramount Global channel package for users of the oldest satellite decoders. On Wednesday, May 21 of this year. Transponder 69 (11.141H) was switched from the DVB-S standard and QPSK modulation to the newer DVB-S2 with 8PSK modulation.

Multiplex with MTV Music, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central in DVB-S2

Tp. 69 (11.141H) is broadcast throughout Europe by the Astra 2G satellite (28.2°E). The available multiplex contains only channels encrypted in VideoGuard. These are Nicktoons, Comedy Central, Nick Jr., Comedy Xtra, Nick Jr. Too, Club MTV and MTV Music UK, aimed at audiences in the UK and Ireland.

Initially, the multiplex operated with SR: 22000, FEC: 5/6 in DVB-S/QPSK and had a bitrate of 34 Mbps. The new specification with SR: 23000, FEC: 2/3 in DVB-S2/8PSK provides a data rate of 44.5 Mbps, i.e. 12.5 Mbps more for additional channels or improving the quality of broadcasting of current stations.

Unfortunately, all TV services remain in the archaic MPEG-2 codec. The transition to MPEG-4 will take place later and will not affect other subscribers with newer equipment
