Devon Conway Ruled Out of First ODI Against India Following Collision with Matt Henry

New Zealand batter Devon Conway has been ruled out of the first One-Day International (ODI) against India after suffering a concussion during a training session at Eden Park on Tuesday.

The incident occurred when Conway and fast bowler Matt Henry collided while attempting to take a catch during practice. Both players received immediate medical attention and underwent head injury assessments, according to New Zealand Cricket (NZC).

Following further medical examinations at a hospital, Conway was diagnosed with a concussion and subsequently ruled out of the opening ODI against India.

New Zealand Cricket confirmed that both players will remain under medical observation, with their availability for the remainder of the ODI series to be decided later.

In an official statement, NZC said that both players would continue to be monitored and further updates regarding their participation in the series would be provided in due course.

Meanwhile, Matt Henry is also working his way back from injury after missing the final three T20 Internationals against India due to a low-grade tear in his right quadriceps.

New Zealand have suffered several injury setbacks ahead of the ODI series, with Mark Chapman ruled out due to a hamstring injury and Rachin Ravindra also unavailable because of a shoulder problem.

These injury concerns have added to New Zealand's challenges ahead of their ODI contest against India, forcing the team management to reassess its plans and available players.

The Black Caps will now be hoping for positive updates on their injured players as they prepare for the important series against India
